The Sts. Vartanantz Church picnic took place on Sunday, June 8th on church grounds, and what a way to kick off the summer! Our parishioners who volunteered worked tirelessly, under the auspices of Der Kapriel, to provide an atmosphere for all to enjoy, but focused mainly creating a fun environment for children.
The weather was exceptionally beautiful with all gathered outside, enjoying the music from the band and the aroma coming from the grill. Der Kapriel and the Board of Trustees changed the date of the picnic to June as it would be more comfortable for all to enjoy time outside.
Children had the opportunity to enjoy two bouncy houses, a magic show, and face painting. Old friends reunited and shared great memories together while new friendships were made. The food line was constantly busy and was serving food for four hours straight until the last meal was sold.
Celebrating the Feast of Pentecost, Der Kapriel, the deacons, and altar servers provided a prayer service and blessed the Madagh.
The band played all of our favorite traditional songs, keeping the crowd engaged and enticing many to the dance floor, or to simply sing along and enjoy the performance.
It is days like this that brings out the best in our community, where we all work together to keep the traditions that we cherish alive. As the younger generation gets older, they will also carry this torch and will put together a better picnic in the years to come.
We want to wish all of you a happy, healthy, and safe summer. We look forward to our upcoming Food Festival and will call upon this generous community again to support their church.
